Hello readers!

We all know the eight planets in the solar system are orbiting our giant star. But not all know additional facts about our solar system.

About the planets
  • Jupiter has 79 moons, falling behind Saturn's 82 moons on the moons count.
  • Jupiter is twice as large as the other planets combined together.
  • Mercury orbits so fast, that spacecraft can't even reach it.
  • Saturn's moons, Epimetheus and Janus swap orbits every 4 years.
  • Ganymede, Jupiter's moon, can be considered a planet if it orbited the sun instead of Jupiter because it is 1.5 times the size of Mercury.
  • Dwarf planet Pluto is even smaller than the Entire US.
  • The dwarf planets are Pluto, Eris, Make make, Haumea, Sedna, etc.
  • The largest moons in the solar system are Ganymede (Jupiter), Titan (Saturn), Callisto (Jupiter), Io (Jupiter), Triton (Neptune), and Titania (Uranus).
  • Jupiter's moon Europa and Saturn's moon Enceladus are thought to have an ocean of water underneath their icy surface

  • Ganymede is 0.4 times the size of Earth.
  • The Mnemonic of the planets is - My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Noodles.
  • Jupiter consists of hydrogen and helium gas. Saturn too contains the gas. They are gas giants. But Uranus is full of methane and ethane and Neptune is full of Ammonia. They are ice giants.
  • Neptune is heavier than Uranus, despite being smaller in size than Uranus.
  • The densest planet in the Solar System is Earth, while the least dense planet is Saturn.
  • Venus takes 225 days to revolve around the sun, but it takes 243 days to rotate.
  • Venus is considered Earth's sister or twin because they are almost the same size. But Earth (Diameter: 13,000 km) is 500 km bigger than Venus (Diameter: 12,500 km)
  • Saturn's rings won't last forever. After 3 billion years, they will fall onto Saturn.
  • Callisto (Jupiter's moon) is the most heavily crated object in the solar system.
  • Want a supply of diamonds every day? Then go to Neptune! The pressure converts the materials into diamonds. The diamonds rain there every day!

Properties of Planets

Fastest revolving planet - Mercury (88 days)
Slowest revolving planet - Neptune (165 years)
Fastest Rotating planet - Jupiter (10 hours)
Slowest Rotating planet - Venus (243 days)
Hottest Planet - Venus (462 deg. Celsius)
Coldest Planet - Neptune (-201 deg.Celsius)
Densest Planet - Earth
Brightest planet - Venus
Largest Planet - Jupiter
Smallest Planet - Mercury
Largest Dwarf Planet - Eris
Smallest Dwarf Planet - Ceres

Other Facts
The Roche limit of the earth is 17,880 km.
Each planet in the solar system helped earth to sustain life.
Earth is astonishingly perfectly designed in the right manner. So life appeared.
Earth must get destroyed by killer asteroids continuously. But it doesn't work because of Jupiter and Saturn. Their enormous size and gravity pull all comets and asteroids that were hurling toward Earth onto them. So the earth is safe!
