Artemis 1: Update

The era has changed. Humans have now started to expand their space realm outside Earth.
Instead of using small and ineffective rockets, NASA has created a powerful rocket:
The Space Launch System
The SLS (Artemis configuration) is a mega moon rocket, similar to Saturn V (the Apollo 11 rocket and SLS' precursor) albeit smaller than it by nearly 40 m. This giant is a reusable projectile capable of sending multiple expeditions into space. After being developed starting in 2011, it will host its first mission today, on 16th November 2022 (15th November EDT) - Artemis 1.
Artemis is the Greek Goddess of hunting and the Moon. She is also displayed with a bow and quiver of arrows and with a wild deer. This is where the mission to the Moon and beyond got its name from!
The Artemis is an increasingly intricate mission. The aim of this mission is to try and colonize outside of Earth. 3 missions are part of Artemis-
- Artemis 1: This mission occurred on 16th Nov, 11:04 IST or 15th Nov 22:30 EDT. Its aim is to send CubeSat satellites onto the moon to excavate resources and launch uncrewed Orion, a heavy-lift transport capsule into space beyond the moon. It would return to Earth after a few weeks. If the Orion craft sent reports indicating the safe condition of space travel for humans, Artemis 2 would then be a manned mission that would be sent to a place no human has ever travelled to.
- Artemis 2: This would take place in 2024, taking humans beyond the Moon's orbit and returning them.
- Artemis 3: This would take place in 2025, deploying Humans onto the moon, after about 56 years.
Humans are trying to find resources to thrive on other planets. The South Pole of the Moon was found to contain fresh ice. If we were to mine the ice, we could obtain a source of water. Similarly, Mars is snow-capped at the poles like Earth. The Martian surface has many mineral deposits.
So we could technically make an underground pressurized shelter to protect from solar radiation as the red planet doesn't have a magnetic field and grow crops using the new technology - Aerofarms.
Aerofarms: This technology is the next step in growing food in areas without water, air, soil or sunshine. The seeds are planted in cotton buds and kept in enormous trays. These trays are kept under huge laser beams that provide high lighting and are regularly sprinkled with water; only 5% of the water is in a farm. In a few days, the plants grow and we can harvest the food.
There we go, all necessary nutrients sorted!
The only disadvantage of this sophisticated base is that communication from here to Earth takes about 40 minutes. Communication is done with radio waves, the longest wave. But there are no things we can do about that.
The SLS has launched and by the time I published the post, Orion has been ejected and is journeying towards the far ends of space. Even though this is a significant event, it is only a small step. More is awaiting us...
This is where I will conclude my post.
